The OPT Certified Grass-Fed Organic Livestock Program sets the first national standard for grass-fed, organic ruminant livestock production for meat and dairy. An end to end, third-party certification for the entire supply chain, verifies all handling of certified products from birth to processing to sale. The OPT Livestock Program trademarked seal can be affixed to products that are sold directly to consumers if the USDA-National Organic Program (NOP) certified operation meets the standards and verification mechanisms of the Grass-fed standard.

G.A.P. is a non-profit organization committed to improving farm animal welfare around the world. G.A.P. is one of the largest animal welfare certification organizations in the world with multi step standards for each species production type. Nearly 4,000 farms are third party audited annually.

Animal Care is a new program within the Animal Health and Food Safety Services division of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Animal Care was formed after the passing of Proposition 12 to implement the law and its first task has been joint promulgation of regulations with the Department of Public Health in addition to outreach and education of stakeholders. 

OPT’s certifier partner, EarthClaims, is Accredited to perform Prop12 audits as a bundled service with G.A.P. certified operations.
